Black History Month

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court is proud to join with the citizens we serve in celebrating Black History Month. During February, we are spotlighting four African-Americans who have furthered the causes of justice and diversity in Cuyahoga County and Ohio.

Judge Solomon Oliver, Jr.
Judge Lloyd Odom Brown
Judge Ronald Adrine
Valeria Harper

Also, on the first floor of the Justice Center, we are presenting a display of artwork from students at Shaw High School in East Cleveland, the Cleveland School of the Arts, Thomas Jefferson Newcomers Academy and Westlake High School. If you are in the Justice Center, please take a moment to view the works by these talented young artists.

The General Division | (216) 443-8560

Unlike the other divisions, judges in the General Division have what is called "general jurisdiction" to hear civil and criminal cases. Under Ohio law Municipal courts have jurisdiction to hear civil cases with a value of up to $15,000.00; Common Pleas civil jurisdiction has no upper limit. Criminal jurisdiction includes all crimes defined by statute as felonies, as well as other certain criminal offenses.
