Judge Brian Mooney Takes Office

The Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court General Division welcomed Judge Brian Mooney to the Bench on Thursday, January 12, 2023.

 

Judge Mooney was elected to a six-year term in November 2022.

 

Judge Mooney lives in Cleveland and graduated from St. Ignatius High School. He received his bachelor's degree from American University, and then his law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

 

Judge Mooney served four terms on City Council in Ward 2 of Brookpark, and later served Ward 11 in Cleveland City Council until his election to the Court. Before joining city council, Judge Mooney served as a Volunteer Magistrate for Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, as an Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor under Stephanie Tubbs-Jones and William D. Mason, and as a Principal Assistant Ohio Attorney General in the Charitable Law Section under Richard Cordray and Mike DeWine.
