Judge Brendan J. Sheehan was honored as an Alumni of the Year by the Cleveland-Marshall Law Alumni Association during a ceremony on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

Judge Sheehan (’93) is the Common Pleas Court’s Administrative and Presiding Judge, and has served on the Bench since 2008.

“I am going to make a direct ask of everyone in this room—take an opportunity to be a mentor and take the opportunity to seek out a mentor,” Judge Sheehan told the crowd at the Renaissance Hotel. “Because of my mentors and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law community, I stand here before you today, grateful to you all.”

Prior to assuming the bench, Judge Sheehan practiced as a civil and criminal litigator for 14 years. As an assistant prosecutor in the Major Trial Division of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, he served as the chair of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and the chair of the Legal Committee for the National Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce. He instructed law enforcement officials across the country on investigation and prosecution of internet crimes.
