Network Technician

This is an unclassified position that serves at the pleasure of the Court.  Under general supervision, this position is primarily responsible for diagnosing and repairing computer equipment problems, the installation of computer components and all audio-visual requirements of the Court.  Current Court policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 coronavirus as a condition of employment.

$ 0

$43,908.80 - $57,054.40 (commensurate with experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following:

1. Coordinating and providing necessary equipment, training and technical support for the Court’s audio-visual technology needs, including video conferencing;
2. Diagnosing and repairing computer problems;
3. Installation of computer hardware components and workstation software;
4. Installation and testing of personal computers on networks on-site;
5. Delivering equipment to users in a timely manner;
6. Maintaining a log of activities completed;
7. Monitoring the problem log system to determine needed repairs;
8. Installation of toner in printers, fixing paper jams in printers, and performing preventative maintenance activities on various types of equipment to ensure continued operations;
9. Performing a variety of other related duties as required.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following:

1. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with Judges, staff, Court employees, and others;
2. Ability to train others in use of technology (e.g., computer hardware and software applications, audio-visual equipment, etc.);
3. Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, office applications and Microsoft Active Directory Services;
4. Ability to utilize a variety of reference, descriptive and advisory data and information such as problem logs, e-mails, status reports, repair manuals, software and hardware manuals and documentation;
5. Motivation and initiative to devise solutions to varying types and degrees of challenges;
6. Attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to understand and follow instructions;
7. Effective time management, reliability and punctuality;
8. Ability to work professionally and collegially with other personnel;
9. Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information;
10. Professional appearance and demeanor.

Education and Experience

Required: Two years of computer installation and repair experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred: B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science or related discipline.

This position requires working in a normal Court and/or office environment with no unusual demands or exposure to hazardous
situations. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a computer workstation. When necessary, this position may require the
ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching,
crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 lbs.). Frequent contact occurs
with supervisors, co-workers and other Court personnel.

The normal hours of operation are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. This position may require work beyond normal
hours, including evenings and weekends.
