Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Recovery Court held its spring graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 12, at the Women’s Club Pavilion at Lakewood Park.
11 graduates were given framed certificates of completion and had the opportunity to address friends and family in attendance.
Under the leadership of Judge Joan Synenberg, Recovery Court works with people in the criminal justice system who are dealing with not only drug and alcohol addiction, but also have underlying mental health issues related to trauma.
“These folks have worked so hard and challenged each other to complete the program as sober members of society,” says Judge Synenberg. “I am so proud of each of them and they are an inspiration for those who are continuing their journey through Recovery Court.”
The trauma that Recovery Court clients have suffered can result from numerous instances, including witnessing the overdoses of loved ones, being subjected to physical and emotional abuse, or even being victims of human trafficking.
Recovery Court began in January 2015, and joined the previously established Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Drug Court.
