Trials Now Targeted For April 26

On Monday, February 8, 2021, the Judges of Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court – General Division voted to extend the current moratorium on jury trials to April 26, 2021, based on current recommendations of public health experts. The Judges will continue to review available COVID data.

While indicating that the action was taken to protect the health and safety of all persons involved in the process, Administrative and Presiding Judge Brendan J. Sheehan also stated that it provides some guidance to attorneys and clients for potential resumption of pending matters.

Judge Sheehan further noted that even in the absence of jury trials, bench trials are still an option and attorneys have been advised to continue pursuing potential non-trial resolutions.
