Court Hosts Probation Job Fair
Cleveland: The Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, in cooperation with the Cleveland Municipal Court, hosted an Employment and Resource Fair on Friday, November 9, for people who are currently on probation to either court.
An estimated 150 people attended the four-hour event, which was held in the Multi-Purpose Room on the first floor of the Justice Center. Employer representatives from around the area were on site to answer questions and accept resumes. There was also information regarding expungements, GED programs, employment-training services, driver’s license restoration, and much more.
“This is our first year taking part in the Employment and Resource Fair,” says Chief Probation Officer Maria Nemec. “More than 20 vendors have signed up for the event and we couldn’t be more excited about providing this opportunity to our probation clients.”
A few of the organizations and businesses that took part were Cleveland Catholic Charities, The United Labor Agencies, Custom Products Corporation, The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and The Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland.
“A job is more than just income; it also helps establish stronger bonds with the community and family,” adds Common Pleas Court Administrative and Presiding Judge John J. Russo. “Community resources are also critical to continued success.”
