Judge McClelland To Remain As Mediator
Cleveland: The Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court is announcing that Judge Robert McClelland will remain with the Court as a mediator.
Judge McClelland is retiring from the Bench on December 31, and will join the Dispute Resolution Department on January 4.
“We are thrilled that the Court and the citizens of Cuyahoga County will continue to benefit from Judge McClelland’s years of experience on the Bench and in private practice,” says Administrative and Presiding Judge Brendan J. Sheehan.
Then-Governor John Kasich appointed Judge McClelland to the Bench in March of 2011. Judge McClelland was elected to the seat in 2012, and again for a full six-year term in 2014.
“I had a number of options to pursue in 2021, but the opportunity to remain with the Court as a mediator was at the very top,” says Judge McClelland. “I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Cuyahoga County in this capacity.”
Judge McClelland spent 31 years in private practice after joining the bar in 1980. Part of that practice was conducting private mediation.
Judge McClelland is a graduate of Berea High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Denison University, and juris doctorate from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Judge McClelland has most recently served as one of the five Judges on the Court’s Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities docket.
