Judge Russo Sworn In As CMBA President

More than 300 Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association members watched live or via livestream as Judge John J. Russo was sworn-in as the organization's new president on Tuesday, June 20. Swearing in the new President was Justice Michael P. Donnelly of the Ohio Supreme Court.

Judge Russo has been a member of the bench for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas since 2005. Throughout his 31-year legal career, Judge Russo has been a long-time CMBA leader and member, including past service on the Association’s Board of Directors. In his inaugural address, President Russo shared his vision for the upcoming year which will focus on supporting the entire legal community being “Fit to Practice,” which means supporting legal and business professionals’ mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

“I am honored and excited by the opportunity to serve as President of one of the best bar associations in the United States,” said Judge Russo. “In the year ahead, I look forward to shining a spotlight on Cleveland’s tremendous legal community, with a particular focus on how the CMBA and our 4,700 members can support each other’s pursuit of healthy minds, bodies and hearts. The legal profession is a challenging one. I know first-hand how the CMBA can be a place for inspiration, education and rejuvenation.”

Also sworn in during the annual meeting as CMBA director for a three year term was Judge Joan Synenberg.
